Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important representative commented the incident made him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
