Major Moscow's Strikes Disrupt Power In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced problems to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in supplying defensive weapons and applying sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

He said that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets targeted the country's power systems, characterizing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region came under heavy assaults throughout the evening. A minor was killed and three other people were hurt.

The attacks come after periods of air raids in the region, portions of which are occupied by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and authorities were preparing for further attacks.
